While it is easy to change Local User Account Password in Windows 10, changing Microsoft Account Password takes some effort. You will find below the steps to change Microsoft User Account Password in Windows 10.

Change Microsoft User Account Password in Windows 10

It is recommended that you change Microsoft User Account Password, in case you believe that your Microsoft User Account Password has been compromised or suspect that someone knows the Login Password for your computer.
Instead of using a Password, you can also use a 4 digit pin or Picture as the Login Password on your computer.

Steps to Change Microsoft User Account Password in Windows 10

Follow the steps below to change Microsoft Account Password in Windows 10.

1. Click on the Start button and then click on Settings icon.
2. On the Settings screen, click on Accounts.
3. On the Accounts screen, click on Sign-in Options in the left pane. Scroll down in right pane to Password section and click on Change.
4. On the next screen, enter your current Microsoft User Account Password and click on the Sign in button.
5. On the next screen, enter the Email Address or Phone Number associated with your Microsoft Account and click on Next.
Microsoft will now send a verification code to your Email Address or Phone. Login to your Email Account or get the verification code from your Phone.
6. On the next screen, enter the Verification Code as received from Microsoft and click on Next.
7. Finally, you will be provided with a screen to change Microsoft User Account Password. Enter your Current Password and then type in your New Password (See image below)
8. You will see Password Changed Prompt, once your Microsoft User Account Password is changed.

Note: Microsoft Account Passwords must have a minimum of 8 characters and contain at least two of these: uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols.

Change Microsoft User Account Password to PIN-

As mentioned above, you can setup a 4-digit PIN as the Login Password for your computer, instead of using your regular alphanumeric Windows 10 Password.

1. Go to Settings > Accounts > Sign-in Options.

2. On the sign-in options screen, click on the ADD button located under “PIN” section (See image below)

3. On the next screen, enter your current Microsoft User Account Password and click on the Sign in button.

4. On the next screen, enter a 4 digit PIN and click on OK.

You will now be able to login to your Windows 10 computer using this PIN, instead of using your regular password.

Change Microsoft User Account Password to Picture

The third option is to use a picture or pattern as your Login password.

1. Go to Settings > Accounts > Sign-in Options.

2. On the sign-in options screen, click on the ADD button located under “Picture Password” section.

3. On the next screen, enter your current Microsoft User Account Password and click on the Sign in button.

4. Next, follow the instructions to choose a Picture and use the Picture as the Login Password on your computer.
